Robert Grant Davis, 92, Of Sloatsburg

SLOATSBURG, N.Y. -- Robert Grant Davis, 92, of Sloatsburg, died Nov. 28.

Born in Canonsburg, Pa. in 1923 to Harvey G. and Mary J. Davis, he graduated from Chartiers High School in 1943, and married his childhood sweetheart Eleanor M. Bright of Knox, Pa. in 1945. They were married for more than 70 years. In 1955, he moved to the area with his family to seek employment; he worked as a mechanic first for Brake Shoe in Mahwah, N.J., and then for many years for Avon in Suffern,

He was an avid fisherman, softball and horseshoe player and bowler. After retiring, he worked as a woodcrafter and volunteered time teaching at Sloatsburg Elementary School with his wife.

Davis is survived by his wife, Eleanor; his five children, Sandra L. Morris of Lewes, Del and her husband Dennis; Robert G. Davis of Pawleys Island, S.C. and his wife Susan; Andrew J. Davis of Middletown and his partner Mitchel Geremino; Richard M. Davis of Sloatsburg and his wife Darlene; and David S. Davis of Waldwick, N.J. and his wife Mary Ellen. He also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Michael Antonelli, Robert Antonelli, James Antonelli, Kyle Post, Kaitlyn Davis, Robyn Davis, Randal Davis, Richard Davis, Hudson Davis and Elizabeth Davis; and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his twin daughters Robyn and Ruth, and grandson Jesse L. Davis.
