Police in Port Jervis tracked down a local resident after he allegedly stabbed a 29-year-old man in the abdomen during a dispute, sending the victim to the hospital.

Officers from the City of Port Jervis Police Department were dispatched to the intersection of East Main Street and Delaware Street, where there was a report of a stabbing at approximately 12:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers reported that they spotted a 29-year-old man with a “severe” stab wound to this torso that required immediate emergency medical attention. Officers transported the man to Bon Secors Community Hospital for treatment. He’s since been transferred to the Orange Regional Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition.

Further investigation led police to Jonathan Taylor, 25, who was arrested and charged with a felony count of second-degree assault and criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. Following arraignment, Taylor was remanded to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail. He due back in Port Jervis City Court later this year to answer the charges.
