The detail is designed to provide numerous officers throughout Rockland County whose sole purpose is DWI enforcement.

A 16-year-old man from Chestnut Ridge was found drinking alcohol in a running vehicle while parked in a Monsey Parking lot after hours. After failing all field sobriety tests, the driver was arrested for DWI, police said. He was processed and turned over to a parent, pending a future appearance in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court.

A second male, a 30-year-old from New City, was pulled over in the Hillcrest area for driving erratically, police said. After failing all tests, the driver was arrested for DWI. A subsequent check revealed that the driver has had two convictions for DWI within the past 10 years, making the current arrest a felony. The man, whose name was not released by police, was processed and is being held for arraignment in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court.

DWI Crackdown details are conducted throughout the year at times when the likelihood of impaired driving is the highest.
