RAMAPO, N. Y. -- A 54-year-old man is facing a harassment charge after Ramapo police had to break up a fight between him and a store clerk at a convenience store in the Hillcrest area, police said.
The man is being held in Rockland County Jail pending a court appearance, police said, and he was ordered to stay away from the store.
Officers responded to calls for help twice Thursday from the store, police said. The second time, the clerk told police the man tried to punch him, police said.
Police responded to a total of 132 calls Thursday, including eight fires, three medical emergencies and 19 alarm activations. Police made four arrests Thursday on charges including criminal contempt and unlicensed operation, police said.
Also, police handled 10 car accidents throughout Ramapo, including Montebello, New City, Sloatsburg, Chestnut Ridge and Hillburn. Also, there were two accidents in Viola and three in Monsey, police said.
