RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A Hillcrest man is being charged with driving while intoxicated after police said he hit a pedestrian Thursday in the hamlet.
The unidentified 33-year-old victim was taken to a local hospital where she was treated for cuts and bruises, police said.
The incident happened on Rockland Lane around 9 p.m.
The 35-year-old driver was also charged with third-degree assault, police said.
He was released to a responsible party and is to appear in Ramapo Court at a later date.
Police handled a total of 159 calls on Thursday, including 15 alarm activations, six medical emergencies, three fires, and arrests for criminal nuisance, assault, DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana and violations of the state's Alcohol Beverage Control Law.
They investigated eight traffic accidents in the following areas: Monsey (2), Airmont (2), Hillcrest, Chestnut Ridge, Pomona and Montebello.
Three accidents involved injuries; one accident was a hit and run, police said.
