Ramapo PD Charge Suffern Property Developer With Hate Crime

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- A 74-year-old Suffern property developer was arrested recently on hate crime charges after he made anti-semitic threats towards a Jewish real estate agent on Aug. 31, according to Ramapo Police Capt. Marty Reilly.

Claudio Iodice is accused of threatening the man who came to Iodice’s office at 214 Route 59 in Airmont, to ask for money that Iodice owed him, police said.

Iodice refused to pay the money and then threatened the man, making several anti-semitic comments, police said.

The fight escalated into a physical confrontation at which time two bystanders stepped in to separate the two men, police said.

Following the incident, the victim drove to the Ramapo Police Department to report the crime. Police conducted an investigation and when Iodice turned himself into police, he was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing and aggravated harassment as a hate crime, police said.

Iodice is scheduled to appear in court later this month.
