RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The Ramapo Police Department Traffic Safety Unit partnered with the New York State Department of Transportation Motor Carrier Safety Unit to conduct a commercial vehicle checkpoint on Route 59 in the Village of Airmont on Thursday, authorities said.
A total of 11 vehicles were inspected, two of which were determined to be unsafe and removed from service, according to officials.
A total of 23 violations were issued during the operation, police report.
The vehicles inspected were checked for weight limits, in addition to overall safety requirements, according to officials.
Ramapo police officers also investigated seven motor vehicle accidents Thursday, including two apiece in Airmont, Monsey and Hillcrest, and one in Wesley Hills.
None of the accidents resulted in injuries, police report.
Ramapo police responded to 113 calls for service Thursday, including eight medical emergencies, eight alarm activations and three fire calls.
Four arrests were made, according to officials.
Charges included harassment in the second degree, criminal contempt in the second degree, aggravated operation of a motor vehicle and a bench warrant.
