The department redesigned the lettering on their older cruisers, replacing vehicles that were in "desperate need of an upgrade due to cracked and peeling letters," according to a post on the department's Facebook page.
The style and color of lettering - completed by Legacy Signs, a local business on Orchard Street - also is a better match to the department's newer vehicles, according to the post on Wednesday, April 27.
The design appears to have some community support. Photographs posted to social media by the department garnered 35 "likes." Suffern resident Joyce Kozachenko also posted a message of support in response to the images.
"Good way to save money," she wrote. "Nice job, be safe and thank you for all you guys do!"
