ROCKLAND COUNTY, N.Y. -- A West Haverstraw woman who claimed her shoes weren't on right, ran a Ramapo police officer off the road after she turned in front of him on Wednesday, according to the Ramapo Police Department.
The incident occurred at 7:50 p.m. when a Ramapo officer on patrol was driving a marked unit north on Route 45 approaching New Hempstead Road. As the officer’s unit entered the intersection, a Honda facing southbound on Route 45, attempted a left turn in front of the police unit, causing the officer to run off the roadway to avoid the accident, police said.
The driver of the Honda, a 21-year-old woman was driving with a suspended license, police said.
The woman told police that her foot slipped off the brake pedal due to unsecured shoes.
She was charged with driving with a suspended license and issued several traffic tickets for the unsafe turn and uninspected motor vehicle.
