Trial Date Set In Ramapo Corruption Case

RAMAPO, N.Y. -- The trial of Ramapo Supervisor Christopher St. Lawrence and the town’s former attorney, Aaron Troodler, is set to begin in January, according to a report by lohud.com.

The two are facing federal corruption charges in connection with the financing of Palisades Credit Union Park, formerly known as Provident Bank Park, a baseball stadium in Pomona.

According to the lohud.com report, St. Lawrence’s and Troodler’s attorneys appeared in federal court in White Plains on Thursday where they asked Judge Cathy Seibel for more time to review evidence – both paper documents and audio recordings – provided by the prosecution.

Seibel gave the defense teams until Sept. 12 to submit motions, and prosecutors until Sept. 25 to respond, the lohud.com report said.

Both St. Lawrence and Troodler, who had been the executive director of the Ramapo Local Development Corp., have pleaded not guilty in the spring to charges of securities and wire fraud, and conspiracy, media reports said.

Prosecutors said Thursday that they expected the trial is to take about four to five weeks, the lohud.com article said.
