NBA Star Just Opened Weed Shop In Hoboken
One of New Jersey's newest marijuana shops is owned by a former NBA star.
Al Harrington, an Orange, NJ native who played for the Indiana Pacers, New York Knicks, and more, has brought Viola to Hoboken.
Viola's website says it's the largest Black-owned cannabis brand and is named after Harrington’s grandmother, who suffered from glaucoma until he convinced her to try cannabis.
"After seeing the flower’s ability to relieve her pain, Al was inspired to start a company that would bring the same aid to others," the Viola website reads.

Yonkers Restaurant X2O Xaviars Run By Chef Peter X. Kelly Closes
A picturesque restaurant on the Hudson River in Westchester run by an award-winning celebrity chef has closed, officials announced.
X2O Xaviars on the Hudson, located in Yonkers at 71 Water Grant St., is closed as of Sunday, Sept. 29, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano said on Friday, Oct. 4.
According to Spano, the eatery, run by Chef Peter X. Kelly, ended its 20-year license with the city before closing. A reason for the closure was not released.
As of Monday, Oct. 7, the eatery's website was offline.

Months after opening, a deli in Westchester is proving to be the best new spot to grab a "sangwheech."
Giovanni's Italian Deli, located in White Plains at 925 North Broadway, opened at the beginning of June 2024 and is already a hit with sandwich lovers.
