A Connecticut man will spend decades in prison after he admitted to beating his 12-year-old son to death with a baseball bat and trying to kill his teenage daughter, authorities announced.
Anthony Andrew Esposito Jr., 53, of Branford, was sentenced on Monday, July 6, to 40 years behind bars for murder and another 20 years for attempted murder to be served consecutively, the Office of the State's Attorney said.
Judge Tracy Lee Dayton, who imposed the sentence, called the trial "one of the worst cases the court has seen."

Anderson Mauricio Ledesma Jara, of East Haven, died Friday, July 3, according to his obituary. His family did not describe the accident that led to his death.
