A Pennsylvania man hired to drive an elderly woman to medical appointments gained her trust before taking thousands of dollars, pawning her rings, and misusing her credit card, police say.
Timothy Hollis, 52, of Fleetwood, was arrested by West Lampeter Township and Strasburg Borough police around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, in the 1200 block of Historic Drive in Strasburg, according to an updated release issued Friday, Oct. 2.

A road rage chase that ended with a motorcyclist being struck and killed in Pennsylvania has resulted in a third-degree murder plea nearly one year later, authorities announced Friday, Oct. 2.
John Clark III, 57, of New Cumberland, pleaded guilty to criminal homicide — murder of the third degree before Cumberland County Judge Michelle H. Sibert on Tuesday, Sept. 29, according to the Cumberland County District Attorney’s Office.
The plea came one day before the anniversary of the deadly Sept. 30, 2025, crash in Lemoyne Borough.

A 66-year-old truck driver was killed when another vehicle struck his tractor-trailer on Interstate 80 in Western Pennsylvania, forcing the rig off the highway and causing it to roll, authorities announced.
Gary Edward Jones, of New Springfield, Ohio, died in the two-vehicle crash on I-80 West at mile marker 19 in Findley Township, Mercer County, according to Mercer County Coroner John A. Libonati.
The crash happened around 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30, and Jones was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:44 a.m., the coroner said.

PA Inmate Inmate Captured Days After Walking Off PA Work Release Job
An inmate who walked away from his work release job in Cumberland County has been captured, officials announced on Thursday, Oct. 1.
Ryan Varner, 42, was found in Gardners, Adams County, around 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 30, according to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
He was taken into custody without incident, officials said.
Varner had been missing since leaving Valk Manufacturing Company at 66 East Main Street in New Kingstown around 3:05 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 24, according to the sheriff’s office.
