A man is facing several charges after police say he fled a traffic stop in Orange County and then injured an officer while resisting arrest — and later tried to spit at and bite officers at the station.
Bronx resident Omar Overstreet, 28, was arrested following the incident on Tuesday morning, Sept. 29, the City of Newburgh Police Department announced on Wednesday, Sept. 30.
The incident began at around 1:11 a.m., when a sergeant saw a red Dodge on South William Street with its driver's-side brake light out, according to police.

Two men convicted in a brutal beating at a Sullivan County motel that left a victim with a fractured face and bleeding in his brain have been sentenced to lengthy prison terms.
Richard Olsen, 40, of Liberty, was sentenced to 15 years in prison, while Jonathan Nipitella, 45, of Kiamesha Lake, received 14 years, Sullivan County District Attorney Brian P. Conaty announced on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Two Westchester County correction officers have been arrested for alleged misconduct at the county jail, prosecutors said.
Diamond Davis, 33, of Yonkers, and Kimesha Foster, 47, of Mount Vernon, were arrested on Monday, Sept. 28, at the Westchester County Jail in Valhalla by investigators from the Westchester County District Attorney's Office, DA Susan Cacace announced on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
